10 thousand Europeans signed our open letter to EU leaders asking to welcome Scotland back in the EU.

Within just a week of our launch, 10 thousand Europeans from all over Europe, including all EU member states and all UK nations, have signed our open letter to EU leaders.

Overall, the response to our launch has been extraordinary for a small grassroots campaign such as ours.

It’s both a testimony to the affection that many Europeans feel for Scotland, as well as an indication of their sense of outrage at how Scotland was ignored throughout the Brexit process.

The letter was published a week before the Scottish parliamentary elections, which were held on Thursday the 6th of May.

Early results of the Scottish election show that the Scottish people renewed and reinforced their democratic mandate for a referendum on independence.

If, as it seems increasingly likely, this is confirmed by the final results, everyone, including the UK prime minister Boris Johnson, will need to respect the will of the Scottish people and allow a referendum to take place.

We are confident that countless Europeans everywhere will want to join our call for solidarity and raise their voice in support of Scotland’s democratic right to choose its own future.

10 thousand European citizens have spoken for Scotland’s right to self-determination. This is just the beginning, now let’s spread the word!

  2. John Lyons says:

Brexit was pushed through against the will of Scotland, by a tory party that has not won a Scottish election since 1955. Scotland must be able to make its own democratic choices, or its not democracy.

I am english and live in england. I have my own small European association and have been involved with the EU for 30 years. I wish Nicola Sturgeon and Scotland all the luck in the world to become independent and get away from the very corrupt english government.
Congratulations to Nicola Sturgeon and her party on their success in their elections.

  9. RICHARD COUCHMAN says:

We in Scotland were dragged out of Europe with many lies and against the will of the the vast majority of those living in Scotland so how come the Scots cant break in a Brexit style from the UK?

  10. Meg says:

We are a nation in our own right and are entitled to self determination. We cannot and will not be refused our right to choose our own future : a future which, I deeply hope, will be as an independent Scotland within the EU. The refusal of this UK government to acknowledge our right to choose is not just a threat to the Scots’ democratic rights but a threat also to democracy everywhere. The aggression with which the UK government and the media has attacked Scotland and her elected parliament with their relentless attempts to silence our voices is indicative of a much more dangerous political and ideological agenda, one which is already affecting Europe under the auspices of Brexit. We want nothing to do with it. We are voting for a progressive, fairer and more compassionate country. We are Scottish and we are European. Keep that light on for us. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙 🇪🇺

As socialdemocratic woman from Vienna 🇦🇹 I do support the democratic wish of the people in Scotland to decide their own future. Don’t let the Tories get you down! I hope that Scotland will be invited to get observer status in the Nordic Council soon. This could be a good step on the way back into EU. You are very welcome here!
