10 Years on: Time to End Brexit?

On 23 June 2026, the 10th anniversary of the Brexit referendum, our campaign and the Scottish campaign Yes for EU travelled to Brussels to honour Scotland’s democracy and remind the EU Parliament that all three devolved nations within the UK are led by parties that seek independence in Europe following the Scottish and Welsh Parliamentary elections of 7 May 2026.

In collaboration with the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament we hosted a panel discussion titled “10 Years on: Time to End Brexit? Can Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland lead England back into the EU”.

The panel included one of the foremost experts on Brexit, the English writer and founder of Open Democracy Anthony Barnett; the Scottish/Irish politician, former MP and SNP spokesperson for Europe at Westminster Philippa Whitford; former Welsh MEP Jill Evans; and Lynn Boylan MEP for Sinn Féin, the Irish Republican party seeking a united Ireland.

The event happened at a crucial time of the ongoing government crisis in Westminster, with the Starmer resigning with the return to Parliament of the Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham in the Makerfield by-election. Bunrham will be the seventh UK Prime Minister in the 10 years since the Brexit referendum.
