Dear European friend,
The time has almost come: tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd of November, the UK Supreme Court will announce its verdict about the new Scottish independence referendum at 9.45 am, time of Edinburgh.
It arrives at a time when the awareness about the negative consequences of Brexit, which Scottish voters so staunchly rejected, is increasing across the UK. That’s why Scots are anxiously waiting for the verdict, and there are demonstrations planned all over Scotland.
Regardless of the outcome, this verdict is important for all Europeans who care about democracy and for all of us who want the Scottish people to have a chance to rejoin the European family.
For this reason our campaign is very proud that we’re having small gatherings of solidarity with Scotland across Europe.
Tomorrow our activists will be in
Paris, Auld Alliance, 80 Rue François Miron, 5pm
Berlin, Brandenburg Tor, Sinti-und-Roma-Denkmal, 5.30
Munich, Café am Glockenspiel, Marienplatz 28, 6.30
Brussels, Grand Central, Rue Belliard 190, 7.45
Rome, Metro Colosseo, 7.30
Dublin, Dáil gate, Kildare Street, 7.30
and on Thursday the 24th in
Skive (Denmark), Adelgade 2, 4.30 pm
With so little notice we don’t expect many people will be able to make it but for everyone who will, Scotland will feel our solidarity a bit more. If you have friends in any of these cities, please click on the links above and invite them.
If you are unable to attend one of these meetings, you can still make your voice heard: take a picture with a flag or symbol or a message of solidarity with Scotland and post it with the hashtag #TimeForScotland. Please, send it to us too so that we can share it.
Our efforts aren’t going unnoticed. See yesterday’s cover page of The National.
Every gesture of solidarity, even the smallest, is important. Together we can remind our Scottish friends that they are not alone, we can help them defend their democracy and build together with them a better future for our Europe.
Fingers crossed and we hope to hear from you tomorrow!
