Following the European Elections 2024 and our Speak up for Scotland campaign which put us in touch with several MEPs we started a fruitful collaboration with our Scottish friends at Yes for EU that are campaigning for an independent Scotland to rejoin the EU. The purpose of the project we co-developed was to maintain, expand and further these contacts with the European Parliament to help consolidate political relationships between Scotland and the EU.
The project kicked off on 9 April 2025 with a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels. Our delegation comprised Europe for Scotland representatives, Yes for EU Team members, former Scottish MEPs, and Scottish Indypodcasters. At the Parliament we met with several current MEPs from different EU countries and a number of advisors. We wanted to find out whether Scotland would be welcome back in the EU once we are an independent country. We found heartwarming answers in a day of hope, action and EU solidarity.
On a well-attended event on 9 May 2025 in Edinburgh, we once again joined our Scottish friends to celebrate Europe Day and the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. Scottish Government Minister Kaukab Stewart addressed the gathering, and journalist Assa Samaké-Roman chaired a panel session with former MEPs Heather Anderson and Alyn Smith, who were with us in Brussels. We shared the outcomes of the Brussels meetings, including distributing an 8-page pamphlet giving details of the project to all participants.

We are currently planning the next phase of this project and more details will be released soon so please bookmark this page!
The project is a collaboration between Yes for EU, Europe for Scotland and Scottish Independence Podcasts.
